Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil, See No Evil

Did you realize last night when you were digesting your hamburger 30,000 children died of starvation? How does that make you feel? Is it enough to make you even consider a compassionate non violent vegetarian diet? I hope so.
I've been a vegetarian now for 8+ years. Why? Because I realized that animal flesh consumption is cruel and violent, facilitates global hunger, not to mention unhealthy. Just watch this video and you'll see how your "meat" is treated before it gets to your table. I've spent these past years attempting to educate friends and family. But people just don't want to hear it.
From my experience most people would rather allow the violence and global hunger to continue, as long as they can enjoy animal flesh on a daily basis.
As I watch people browse over tortured murdered animals in the grocery store I realize they are in a state of "Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil, See No Evil" as long as they don't have to kill their animal flesh themselves and they ask God to bless their food they feel righteous to enjoy their nice juicy steak after church, I say HYPOCRISY!! What kind of God would bless food which is brought thru torture and murder and results in global starvation? Mathew 25 says
On the last day, Jesus will say to those on His right hand, "Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me." Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, "Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me to drink, I was sick and you did not visit me." These will ask Him, "When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?" And Jesus will answer them, "Whatever you neglected to do unto one of these least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!"
author Frances Moore Lappe
writes "imagine sitting down to an eight-ounce steak. "Then imagine the
room filled with 45 to 50 people with empty bowls in front of them. For
the 'feed cost' of your steak, each of their bowls could be filled with
a full cup of cooked cereal grains."From my experience most people would rather allow the violence and global hunger to continue, as long as they can enjoy animal flesh on a daily basis.

Catholic Priest John Dear, writes "As I consider what it means to be a Christian today, reflecting on the radical, nonviolent life of Jesus, I believe that today Jesus sides with the starving, the homeless, the refugees, and the children of the world, who continue to be crushed by first-world greed and warmaking. If Jesus lived in our culture of violence, he would do everything he could to confront the structures of death and call for a new culture of peace and life. He would want us to change every aspect of our lives, to seek complete physical, spiritual, emotional, and ethical wholeness, to become people of nonviolence, children of the God of peace." We need to understand that if we're eating meat, we are paying people to be cruel to animals."
While people suffer and die of starvation in Central and South America, these regions ship their grain to the U.S. to feed our cows, pigs, and chickens so that we can satisfy our desire for animal flesh, milk, and eggs."
a quote from author Lewis Regenstein:
"There are compelling moral, spiritual, and scriptural reasons to abstain from meat. The raising, transporting, and slaughtering of food animals entails enormous mistreatment and suffering of literally billions of creatures each year, in addition to the massive damage to the environment. Indeed, raising livestock is more destructive in depleting topsoil, groundwater, and energy resources than all other human activities combined, as well as causing enormous environmental damage such as clearing of forests, destruction of wildlife habitat, and pollution of rivers and lakes. And the consumption of meat and dairy products ... is linked to high rates of cancer, heart disease, strokes, and other potentially fatal health disorders. Therefore refraining from eating meat helps prevent cruelty to animals and promotes protection of the environment and the health of one's body, the ‘Temple of the Lord.' For all these reasons, a vegetarian diet is one good way of maintaining a lifestyle consistent with the humane and ecological spirit of the Scriptures."
In conclusion I beseach all who will listen HAVE COMPASSION, take the first step stop paying murderers for your meat! Stop consuming animal products!
